Cambridgeshire & Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust has an exciting opportunity for a Specialty Doctor to join the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Community Eating Disorder Service.
The Eating disorder service (EDS) was established in 2004. It is part of the Adult division within CPFT. It offers treatment for patients age 18 years and older with moderate to severe eating disorders registered with GP practices in the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough CCG.
The service has been allocated transformation funding to develop into a comprehensive leading-edge service. We hope to minimise obstacles in accessing treatment; accepting self-referrals and treat patients rapidly and safely. Our new treatment pathways include and early intervention pathway, a high-risk pathway that includes medical monitoring and a quality of life pathway for patients with severe and enduring eating disorders.
We will be offering intensive outreach community-based interventions. We are developing a robust pathway with acute hospitals in order to facilitate timely safe access to medical wards for our patients. This will provide the opportunity for liaison with physicians and acute care teams.
The service will become a pioneer in the care of eating disorders and there are many opportunities to be involved in the transformation.
Opportunities to develop skills will include
- A training period
- Study leave budget to attend eating disorder specific training and conferences
- Weekly clinical supervision
- Weekly education meetings
- Optional dedicated research / psychological treatment supervision - training in job plan
This is a 1.0 WTE Specialty Doctor post to work within the specialist multidisciplinary team and share responsibility for outpatients in the community eating disorder service for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough alongside the current 0.8 WTE Community Consultant and 0.5 WTE salaried General Practitioner.
