Consultant Old Age Psychiatrists in Cambridge and Huntingdon
Consultants in Old Age Community Psychiatry, full or part time.
CPFT are looking to invite enthusiastic and committed Old Age Psychiatrists to join our excellent Older Peoples Mental Health (OPMH) services. Two posts are available, the first in Cambridge serving the cathedral city of Ely and the surrounding villages, and the second post is based in Huntingdon and Fenlands. We welcome full time or part time applications and will develop jobs to support individual clinical and professional interests.
Consultants within CPFT have access to wide-ranging opportunities to develop professional interests in research, education, and leadership. We are one of the Cambridge University Health Partners and have close ties to the University medical school, which is consistently ranked as one of the best in the world.
Clinicians are also closely allied to the Cambridge University Department of Psychiatry which was ranked top in Europe over the preceding decade in 2010. This has been further strengthened by the appointment of a Foundation Professor of Old Age Psychiatry. Clinical dementia research has been enhanced by the development of the award winning Windsor Research Unit, a dedicated facility for clinical dementia research on the Fulbourn site. In 2020 the Windsor research unit was chosen as a trial site for the Oxford Covid Vaccine; one of many exciting projects and illustrative of the opportunity available. Most of our Cambridge based psychiatrists have a PhD.
For appropriately qualified and motivated candidates time for educational or research activity could become part of their job plan with funding for protected sessions. CPFT has also been a leader in building international partnerships and successful applicants are likely to have opportunities to travel or work on developing psychiatric services overseas.
CPFT is one of a very small number of equivalent trusts rated ‘GOOD’ following a recent CQC inspection. Our aspiration is to build on this to develop outstanding services. The services are part of a nationally innovative scheme to provide genuinely integrated care and services , e.g. the award winning JET Team.
